Mental health THERAPY IN CA, WA, FL, & UT
Maybe you found your way here because..
You’re sick and tired of being in a constant loop of intrusive and obsessive thoughts but don’t know how to stop them.
You feel embarrassed or ashamed of the things your brain thinks and are scared to talk about them with people in your life, in fear of judgement and misunderstanding.
You’re missing out on life and avoiding things that feel important to you because of your Eating Disorder or OCD, but feel trapped in terms of how to change.
You feel like your whole world revolves around food and exercise- maybe your body got smaller, but so did your life.
You feel like no one truly gets how hard it is to just “give up” your eating disorder or OCD behaviors- you want relief, but don’t want to feel dismissed or forced.
If any of these land- you’re in the right place and you are not alone. It is absolutely possible to reclaim your life from a soul sucking Eating Disorder or OCD. We focus on both of these issues because they are so similar- they just manifest a bit differently. And, many people have both which further complicates treatment.
Our Approach to Healing:
Beyond symptom management: we explore root causes to suffering including trauma, interpersonal dynamics, attachment wounds, family of origin stories, unconscious patterns driving present day emotions and behaviors, intergenerational trauma and resilience, and cultural influences.
Evidence based treatment: you deserve care that is proven to work through scientific research. We utilize Internal Family Systems (IFS), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy (ERP), Inference Based CBT (I-CBT), Somatic Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Feminist Therapy, and Relational Psychodynamic Therapy.
Guided by Liberation Psychology, we recognize how systems like racism, anti-fatness, ableism, and cis-hetero-patriarchy shape mental health and our relationship to ourselves and others, we do not shy away from these conversations.
We value secure attachment in the therapy relationship, empowerment, collaboration, radical compassion, and identity affirming, trauma-informed care (including gender-affirming letters or disability accommodations request letters-without gatekeeping).
Living with an eating disorder is exhausting.
Are you tired of feeling consumed with thoughts about food and your body?
Have your struggles with food and/or body image been making you feel increasingly more isolated- causing issues in your most important relationships?
Do you often feel guilty or bad if you break a ‘food rule’ or ‘exercise rule’?
Do you feel like your life has become ‘small’ the more obsessed you get with food rules, calories, the pursuit of weight loss, etc?
Have you been telling yourself you’ll get things ‘under control’ tomorrow, next week or next month, only to feel like it’s controlling YOU?
We have been in your shoes. Nothing is worse than realizing how much your Eating Disorder has taken from you. It is possible to reclaim your joy, time, self and relationships- we can help you get there!
OCD can make you feel like you are losing your mind.
Do you feel flooded with intrusive and unwanted images, thoughts or sensations?
Are you scared to tell people because you know it sounds odd or even disturbing?
Do you find yourself in a relentless battle of trying to make the thoughts go away- only to temporarily find relief until they come back even stronger?
Are you questioning if these intrusive thoughts mean something very real and bad about you?
If you answered yes to any of the above, you are in the right place. OCD is torturous. OCD is called the ‘doubting disorder’. It makes you question everything about yourself- wondering if you might actually be an awful or harmful person for having such disturbing thoughts. OCD attacks what we value MOST. That is why it feels so distressing. Therapy for OCD can help you find peace from the endless loop of obsessions and compulsions by building self trust, learning skills to cope with unwanted thoughts and ultimately, breaking the cycle by resisting the compulsions.
